Last week my son and I were able to go to Epcot for a pass holder preview of the newest ride: Guardians of the Galaxy, Cosmic Rewind. It turned out to be a very rainy day at Epcot with Tanner, but we still had a great time.
We got to Epcot around 10 and headed straight to Karamell-Kuche, which is the bakery in the Germany pavilion. I’ve heard great things about the school bread and was looking forward to trying it.
I was disappointed with this pastry and don’t have anything positive to say about it, except that the Olaf decoration was cute. I took two bites, because I couldn’t trust the first bite, and threw it away. On a positive, Tanner got a delicious chocolate chip cookie.
Tanner started complaining about blisters on the bottom of this foot, so we ended up at First Aid getting him bandaids. Unfortunately, the bandaids didn’t work. I ended up buying him some socks at Creations. Socks sounded like a terrible idea to me, especially in the Florida heat, but he loved them and didn’t complain the rest of the day.
Tanner used to be into trading pins at Disney. To be more specific, he was into it for about two months. He still occasionally brings them when we go, but doesn’t usually trade them. In one of the shops we saw a pretty cool pin trading box. You could pick two different numbers and look at those pins. If you liked one, you could trade it. If you didn’t like any, your turn was over and you couldn’t trade.
Tanner picked two numbers, but didn’t like either of the pins he saw. He decided not to trade.
The park was pretty empty, so we took some time just strolling the countries. Tanner actually enjoys just walking around and exploring the different countries.
Epcot recently opened a new quick service restaurant called Connections. We decided to try it out for lunch. We mobile ordered, because I strongly dislike waiting in lines. Tanner ordered a kids cheeseburger and french fries. I got the French Bistro Burger with the Mediterranean Side Salad.
Tanner thought it was hilarious how small the cheeseburger was, but he also thought it was hilarious how many french fries he got. My burger was really good, but I would definitely pass on the salad next time.
After lunch, we still had a few hours before it was our turn to preview the new ride. We bought the festival scavenger hunt last month, but never finished it. Thankfully we thought ahead and brought it with us. We spent some time wondering the countries looking around for Spike the Bee.
We were so excited when it was finally time to head to the ride preview. Sadly, when we checked in the cast member informed us the ride was down and we would have a longer wait. We waited over 1.5 hours for the ride.
There were a lot of cheers and celebrating when the line started moving. The ride hasn’t opened to the public yet, so I won’t go into detail about it. I will say it is, by far, my new favorite ride at Disney. It was INCREDIBLE.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Disney uses a virtual cue when the ride opens. If not, I have a feeling I won’t be riding it again for a long time.
We planned to finish the scavenger hunt after the ride, but it started pouring. Tanner didn’t mind at all.
I try to avoid driving in the rain, so we hung around for awhile until the rain stopped. I mostly stood under any awning I could find, while Tanner ran through every puddle he could find.
Tanner’s grandma told him to pick out a prize as a reward for finishing elementary school.
He picked out this large Stitch stuffed animal. He loves it. I was not so excited to add another stuffed animal to our home, but his smile was everything.
I’ve made it a tradition to get a Rice Krispy treat every single time I’m at Disney. I’m addicted to them, but only the Disney ones. I prefer the fresh unpackaged ones, but I love them all.
Even though it was a rainy day at Epcot with Tanner, we had a great time!
