The holidays are coming, which means it’s the perfect time to pull out some fun activities to do with your students or children. There are many slime recipes, but my favorite is fluffy slime! It’s unique and most kids aren’t as familiar with this type.
Unlike other slime, fluffy slime takes a bit of effort to make. It makes for a great lesson on perseverance!
You will need:
– 3-4 cups of shaving cream
– 1/2 cup of Elmer’s glue
– 1 tsp of baking soda
– 1 tbps of saline solution (Make sure your saline solution has boric acid. This is important!)
– food coloring
– large bowl
– spatula or another tool for mixing
Step 1:
Add 3-4 cups of shaving cream to your bowl. I have found that this measurement does not need to be exact.
Step 2:
Add 1/2 cup of Elmer’s Glue to your bowl and mix with your spatula. The mixture will look very similar to regular shaving cream.
Step 3:
Add 2-3 drops of food coloring and keep mixing! This is the best time to add more food coloring, if you want a more vibrant color.
Step 4:
Add 1 teaspoon of Baking Soda into the mixture and 1 tablespoon of saline solution.
Step 5:
Mix as hard as you can! As you mix, you should start see the slime slowly pulling away from the sides of the bowl.
Step 6:
Put some saline solution on your hands and pick up your slime. I suggest being very generous when putting the saline on your hands. This will help the slime stick less to your hands.
Step 7:
Move the slime between your two hands. This is when kids will think their slime has failed. The slime will be VERY sticky at first. The quicker you move the slime back and forth, the quicker it will lose its stickiness. I have found that it takes 5-7 minutes to completely rid the slime of all stickiness. Your hands should be fairly clean when your slime is completely done.
If you notice your slime being extra sticky after 2-3 minutes, you can add more saline solution.
Step 8:
Have fun playing with your slime!
