The end of the school year is always a mix of chaos, countdowns, and trying to squeeze in just one more meaningful moment. When I was in the classroom, one of my favorite traditions was having my students write letters to each other and it became something we all looked forward to every spring.

Here is how it worked:
I’d start about 1–2 months before the last day of school. (I always wanted to make sure I had wiggle room, because let’s be honest…. some days I forgot.) Each day, I’d randomly pick one student, and everyone in the class (including me!) would write a letter to that student. It didn’t have to be long or perfect—just a kind note, a fun memory, or something they appreciated about that person. By the end of the year, every student had a book of letters written just for them by their classmates. On the last day of school, I’d pass them out. Watching them sit and read through 20+ letters from their peers was seriously heart-melting.

To make the whole process easier—and way more special—I created these editable class letter templates. They’re simple to use and give students a little structure if they’re not sure what to write. I also included a version you can type on if you prefer to keep things digital.

It’s one of those low-prep, high-impact activities that brings your classroom community full circle. The best part…. it gives your students something personal to take home. It is a keepsake that shows how much they were seen, known, and appreciated by their classmates throughout the year.
You can check out the templates here on TpT. If you’re looking for something meaningful that doesn’t require glitter, laminating, or last-minute chaos, this might be it.
You’re almost there, teacher friend. Finish strong ❤️
